Terms of Use

Not legal advice. These terms describe the public website and the owner-only Factory. Remaining legal choices that have not been confirmed are marked below.

1. The service

https://watchthecow.com is the public website for The Curious Cow, an owner-operated YouTube channel that publishes short factual videos.

The Curious Cow Factory at https://factory.watchthecow.com is a private, AI-assisted production and publishing application. The owner uses it to research topics, generate scripts and visuals, render videos, and upload them to YouTube language channels the owner authorizes. English and German channels are supported today. Additional language channels are planned and are not part of the live service described here.

The Factory is used by the owner only. It is not a public SaaS product and is not offered for third-party accounts.

The service is operated by a private individual in Thailand. Contact: mailversand.thailand@gmail.com.

Still needs confirmation: the operator’s full legal name, a postal or business address, and whether these terms should be governed by Thai law or another jurisdiction. Those are not invented here.

2. YouTube API Services

The Factory uses YouTube API Services to connect Google accounts, read the authorized YouTube channel, and upload or manage videos on that channel.

By using the Factory’s YouTube features, you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.

Google’s privacy practices are described at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy. The Factory privacy policy is at https://watchthecow.com/privacy.

3. Account authorization

YouTube access is granted only after the owner completes Google’s OAuth consent screen for a Factory language channel. The Factory stores encrypted OAuth tokens for that channel and uses them only for the YouTube actions described in the privacy policy.

The owner may disconnect a channel in the Factory. Disconnect revokes the Google token, deletes local YouTube credentials and stored YouTube API data, and does not delete videos already hosted on YouTube.

The owner may also revoke access at Google account permissions.

4. Owner-controlled publication

Publication is owner-controlled:

• The YouTube API project is not treated as audited. Public YouTube publishing is disabled in the Factory.
• Current uploads are private (or unlisted) test uploads initiated by the owner.
• A daily public scheduler is not running.
• The Factory may suggest titles, descriptions, tags, captions, and thumbnails. Sending those values to YouTube happens only when the owner (or an owner-started Factory action) performs an upload.

Videos already on YouTube remain under the YouTube channel’s settings. Removing them requires YouTube Studio or another YouTube application; Factory Disconnect does not remove them.

5. What the Factory does not currently provide

• Public self-service accounts or a consumer app store listing.
• Guaranteed upload quotas, ranking, or YouTube recommendation outcomes.
• Language channels other than those actually configured (English and German today).
• Paid media generation as an on-demand public feature. Third-party generation APIs are used inside the private Factory when the owner runs production.

6. Acceptable use

YouTube content must comply with YouTube’s terms and community rules. The Factory must not be used to upload content the owner does not have the right to publish, to circumvent YouTube safety systems, or to access YouTube API Services after credentials are revoked.

The public website may be used to watch the channel and to read these pages. It must not be used to attack or overload the server.

7. Accuracy of generated content

Factory scripts and images are AI-assisted. The owner is responsible for reviewing them before any public YouTube publication. These terms do not promise that generated facts, images, or captions are error-free.

8. Limitation of scope

The public site and Factory are provided by an owner-operator for producing The Curious Cow channels. No warranty of uninterrupted availability, quota, or fitness for another business is stated here.

Still needs legal review: liability caps, consumer-law notices, and a governing-law clause. Those are not invented in this document.

9. Changes

If these terms are updated, continued use of the Factory YouTube features means the updated terms apply, including the YouTube Terms of Service linked above. This page is not a substitute for legal advice.
